University Advancement

Giving Programs

The Catholic University of America’s giving programs recognize the commitment and support of alumni, parents, and friends who provide a high level of support to the University. Our circles and societies honor our generous benefactors as well as their transformative impact on our students, faculty, and staff.

Why is my annual fund gift important?

Your support of the University finds its way to nearly every experience a student has, with teachers, with friends, through student activities, in campus life, and in experiencing artistic or athletic events.

Unrestricted gifts allow the University to provide students the most enriching opportunities as prioritized through the University budget.

It is during budget discussions that the most important University activities are prioritized. At the heart of the budget is the question, "What are the most important things we can do for students this year?"

The last dollars given to the budget, those charitable dollars, are crucial because the most appealing new ideas often depend on whether they can be fit into the budget.

Giving Societies

The Catholic University is proud to honor the distinguished group of contributors who, year after year, help the University to prepare its students for success after graduation.

St. Thomas Aquinas Society
Is for donors who notify the University they have made a commitment to a gift through any of the planned giving vehicles we currently administer.

Lumen Society
Celebrates the philanthropic spirit of our alumni and friends who have made charitable gifts to the University for ten years or more. The Lumen Society is named in honor of the University's motto:"Deus Lux Mea Est — God is My Light.

Red Feather Society
The Red Feather Society is the University’s young alumni loyalty giving society, established in 2012. Just as our CUA grads showed their Cardinal pride as students, these alumni continue to keep the spirit of CUA alive through their generosity to the University.
